Who can use Zwitch
To use Zwitch, you must:
- Be at least 16 years old.
- Hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence, or be acting on behalf of someone who does (for example a parent, guardian, partner, or family member); and
- Have a valid practical driving test booking issued by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
If you are acting on someone else's behalf, you must have their permission to do so.
Zwitch is intended for learners, parents and guardians, and individuals helping someone they know. It is not intended for driving instructors, driving schools, or businesses and commercial third-party services.
Definitions
- Swap - the process of requesting and agreeing to exchange DVSA practical driving test appointments with another user.
- Test booking - a single DVSA practical driving test appointment that you register on Zwitch.
- Match - the point at which you and another user have both agreed to a swap and each other's details are released so the swap can be completed with DVSA.
- Freeze period - a 12-hour window during which a test is held to allow the other user to complete their side of the process and finalise the Match.
- Package - the access you purchase for a test booking, as set out in section 3.
Packages and pricing
Zwitch is a one-off payment service. There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges.
Unlimited Package – the price shown at checkout
The Unlimited Package is purchased for one test booking and covers that booking until one swap is completed. For that booking it gives you:
- Unlimited searching, for as long as you need.
- Visibility of all available matches.
- Unlimited swap requests.
- No time limit and no further charges while you are looking.
What "Unlimited" means. Unlimited use of the platform for the test booking you bought it for. It does not mean unlimited swaps across your account.
What "one-time payment" means. We do not take recurring or subscription payments. It does not mean that one payment covers every test booking you may have.
When a further payment is required
Once a swap has been completed, the Package for that test booking has been used and the service has been delivered in full.
If you later wish to swap a different test booking, including a re-test following an unsuccessful driving test, or a test you book after cancelling or rescheduling, that is a new test booking. It requires a new registration on Zwitch and the purchase of a new Package.
The tests involved in a completed Match cannot be swapped again through Zwitch.
Payment is required before you can access matches.
How a swap works
- You register your test booking and set your preferences.
- You search for and request a swap with another user.
- If the other user accepts, both tests are held for a 12-hour freeze period while both sides complete their part of the process.
- If either side does not complete within the freeze period, the request lapses and the tests are released.
- Once a Match occurs, contact details are released to both users.
- Both users must then contact DVSA directly to complete the official swap.
Zwitch does not complete swaps for you, does not contact DVSA on your behalf, and does not guarantee that a match will be found or that a swap will succeed.
Refunds
Because the Unlimited Package gives immediate access to matches, you will be asked at checkout to confirm that you want access to begin straight away and to acknowledge that, once access has begun, you lose the right to cancel within 14 days that would otherwise apply to a distance-sold digital service. If you do not give that confirmation, access will not begin until the 14-day period has elapsed.
Once access has begun, payments are not refundable. This includes where you:
- Do not find a suitable match.
- Decide not to continue.
- Enter incorrect details; or
- Complete a Match but do not contact DVSA to finalise the swap.
Where a refund will be considered:
- If a swap request lapses during the freeze period because the other user did not complete their side, and no Match occurred.
- If there is a genuine technical fault with the platform that prevented, you from using the service you paid for.
To request a refund on either basis, contact us at info@zwitch.co.uk with details and any supporting evidence. We will review the request and respond within 14 days. Refunds are processed within five working days for UK accounts and up to twenty-one working days for non-UK accounts.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. When you do, your listing is removed from Zwitch and any open swap requests you have made or received are withdrawn immediately. You will be signed out on every device.
For 30 days after deletion you can restore your account simply by signing in again, and everything will be as you left it. After 30 days we permanently erase your personal details — your email address, phone number, address and licence number — and this cannot be reversed.
Your name remains on the record of any swap you completed, so that the learner you swapped with keeps an accurate record of that swap. Payment records are retained for as long as UK law requires.
If a swap you are part of has been accepted but not yet completed, you will be asked to complete or cancel it before your account can be deleted, so that the other learner is not left waiting.
Any unused Swap Pass, and any partner balance, is forfeited when the account is deleted. See Section 05 for how refunds are handled.
Using Zwitch properly
You agree to:
- Provide accurate, up to date information.
- Register only genuine, valid DVSA-issued test bookings.
- Respond if we contact you to verify or correct details; and
- Use the platform fairly and lawfully.
You are responsible for ensuring that everything you submit is correct, and responsibility for your booking always remains with you, including while we conduct checks.
Verification and checks
We conduct checks before listings appear on the platform. Test details are reviewed against DVSA booking information, entries may be held or rejected if they cannot be validated, and we may contact you to confirm or correct details.
These are internal checks intended to reduce errors and misuse. Zwitch is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the DVSA, and our checks do not constitute DVSA approval.
Agreements between users
If you proceed with a swap, the agreement to exchange test appointments is between you and the other user. Zwitch is not a party to that agreement and acts only as a platform that helps users find each other. Both parties are responsible for contacting DVSA to complete the swap and for complying with DVSA's rules and procedures.
Misuse, suspension, and appeals
We may suspend or restrict access to your account if you provide false or misleading information, attempt to abuse or manipulate the platform, act without proper authority, or breach applicable laws or regulations. No refund will be issued where access is withdrawn for these reasons.
If your account is suspended, you may appeal in writing to info@zwitch.co.uk. We will review each appeal on its own facts and respond within 14 days, giving reasons for our decision. This appeals process does not affect your right to bring a complaint or claim elsewhere.
Legal and regulatory position
Zwitch operates as an independent, UK-based platform. We are not affiliated with the DVSA or any government body, and nothing in these Terms creates any official relationship with the DVSA. Users remain responsible for complying with all DVSA rules.
Liability
We aim to provide a reliable service, but we cannot guarantee that you will find a match, we cannot control DVSA decisions, and we are not responsible for delays, errors, or unsuccessful swaps that are outside our control.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in respect of the test booking concerned.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with the service, contact us at info@zwitch.co.uk and we will respond within 14 days. If we cannot resolve matters between us, you may be able to refer the complaint to a relevant alternative dispute resolution body, and you retain the right to take legal action.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your purchase is the version published at the time you paid, and we will retain previous versions so that this can be confirmed on request. Continued use of Zwitch after a change means you accept the latest version.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms are subject to the exclusive authority of the courts of England and Wales, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
